Imphal 30th June 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam inaugurated the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Ukhongshang and said the school would benefit many girls belonging to the disadvantaged communities of the village. He also said the school which has classes VI to VIII will be upgraded till Class X as soon as possible.
The school has been built, under Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, State Mission Authority, Manipur (SSA, SMA), for setting up residential schools at upper primary level for girls belonging predominantly to the SC, ST, OBC and minority communities. One of the main objectives of this scheme is to eliminate the gender bias in terms of education.
The Minister addressing the function said effort are made for the progress and betterment of the people and country as whole. These entire endeavors, he said, have been aspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's motto 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.'
He said the main aim is to achieve a holistic and sustainable growth and improve the quality of life of the girls of the poorer section.
He urged the teachers to be committed and be dedicated to their profession so that they could leave all unnecessary things behind.
A good teacher is someone who can bring out the best from the worst student by guiding them towards the right direction. A good teacher will not only guide but also nurture their students helping them in the process to become better humans, he added.
Parliamentary Secretary Education & YAS K. Robindro Singh said the 100 Days Programme of the new government is like an examination to prove the capability and show that the government is dedicated to do the best for the upliftment of the people.
