Hindu College, University of Delhi, proudly announces the commencement of a Skill Training Program in Fragrance Formulations for Wellness Products. The Training Programme is an initiative of Government of Manipur which is being organised by Hindu College in partnership with Ultra International Ltd And CSIR- CIMAP, Lucknow, under the esteemed mentorship of Supreme Court appointed Committee, headed by Hon’ble Justice Gita Mittal. The intensive 3 weeks training program encompasses theoretical sessions, special lectures, hands on sessions, visit to industries and excursions and aims to empower women from Manipur by equipping them with specialised skills in the fragrance industry. Thirty women from Manipur, including 15 internally displaced persons from relief camps following the recent crisis, will undergo intensive training.

Through the structured comprehensive sessions and industrial visits, the trainees will be able to acquire both theoretical knowledge and practical experience of the real world that will ultimately help them in becoming self-sufficient to develop and commercially sell the wellness products for their livelihood.
3. The inauguration of the program was graced by Dr Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary of Manipur, as the Chief Guest. Mercina Panmei, IAS, Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, also attended the event as the Guest of Honour. Prof Reena Jain, Vice Principal of Hindu College, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of skill training in fragrance formulations for the wellness industry. Prof Anju Srivastava, Principal of Hindu College, extended a warm welcome to all the participants, highlighting the college's commitment to empowering young women through such initiatives. Dr Vineet Joshi, Chief Secretary of Manipur emphasized the unique opportunity and privileges afforded to the Manipuri girls and encouraged them to maximize this chance to expand their knowledge and work towards self-sustainability. He further stated that the training is more than just acquiring skills but also a doorway to a brighter future for many. The programme was attended by the faculty members and students of Hindu college.
4. The hands-on training will include the extraction of essential oil from lime/orange peel, extraction of oil from clove buds, soap making, and the preparation of talcum powder, shampoo, and hand sanitizer. Upon completion of their training at Hindu College, the State Government of Manipur will further enhance their skills by collaborating with the MSME Technology Centre in Imphal, which has facilities like distilleries and labs for producing the items they have been trained to make.
5. Additionally, the procurement of goods produced at the relief camps will be managed by MSRLM (Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission) and MHHDC (Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd), two Government agencies nominated by the State Government to support relief and rehabilitation efforts. This initiative aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the residents of the relief camps by ensuring that Government offices in the State source their office supplies from items produced by these inmates.
