General Administration Dept., Govt of Manipur handed over 300 masks for use of newspaper hawkers through the President, Editors’ Guild, Manipur today the 5th April, 2020. The masks are distributed free of cost by the General Administration Dept. These locally produced masks are washable, reusable and last much longer as they are made of local cotton cloths. These masks are now highly recommended by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India which has already circulated how to stitch such masks as these are much more safer than the using surgical masks over a long period. While surgical masks are not reusable & need to be disposed off properly, these stitched masks can be washed properly after daily use and can be use again & again by following the hygienic procedure. GAD procured these masks from local handlooms & tailors through Manipur Handlooms & Handicrafts Corpn Ltd (MHHDC) with CSR funds it could muster in this short period of time to ensure safety of officials working for the Govt & the people.
