Imphal 9th July 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam said the seat capacity of T. G. Higher Secondary School would be increase by 150 seats above the existing seat. He explained that the decision to increase the number of seats was taken in the interest of the students and parents.
The Minister conducted a social service at T. G. Higher Secondary School. The social service, he said, is an initiative he hopes to do every month by visiting atleast one of the educational institutions of the state. During the visit, he inspected laboratories, classrooms, hostel and other infrastructures of the school. He assured that necessary requirements of the school specially the flooded laboratory and the under-construction girls' hostel that need to be repaired and completed will be done as soon as possible. So, the students do not face any troubles after classes are once commenced.
The Minister said it is delightful to see that there is heavy rush in government higher secondary schools to get admission. The government schools are equipped with the most qualified teachers. If they could put a little extra effort then the best could be bring out, he said. Good teachers are those who can make the weakest student of a class to one of the finest students of the school, he added.
The owners of the neighbouring buildings encroaching the school property were called and told to extend their support in restoring the school areas. For this the owner were informed to keep in touch with the concern authority to rectify the illegally constructed part encroaching the hostel area specially meant for the girls' student.
He also heard to the grievances of the teachers and assured that certain plans have been taken up to sanction teachers' salary by first of every month. He also urged the teachers to sincerely dedicate and be committed to their profession setting a target to make their students one of the best. In the social service at the T. G. Higher Secondary School Director Education (S) Th. Kirankumar, Engineering Team and other Officials of Education Department, Principal, Teachers and Non-Teaching Staff were also present.
In terms of salary for the teachers under SSA, RMSA and RUSA, the Minister explained that their financial aid comes from centre on timely basis, as it is Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS). The funds for both the civil and salary is sanctioned together. He explained that under the scheme the construction work are to be completed on targeted time and the report should be submitted on time. However, inability to submit report and utilization certificate leads to non-release of the funds. He also mentioned that he along with his officials had appealed to the concern authority to separate the sanctioning of the salary from civil component as the state faces certain problems in carrying out the civil works.
Later, the minister went to inspect certain areas of his constituency, highlighted on a social media about the accidents and difficulties faced by the people due to potholes. Taking immediate action, the potholes of the roads linking Sikhong Bazaar to Yairipok at Nongpok Sekmai and the Lourembam Pechi Chinglak to Shikhong Sekmai, were filled up. He also convinced the people that he would talk to the contractors and engineering team undertaking the construction work of the road. (DIPR)
