STATE DISTRIBUTES BENEFITS TO LABOUR CARD HOLDERS

Imphal, 8th January, 2025 (DIPR):Chief Minister Shri. N Biren Singh distributed benefits to labour card holders under special scheme for providing financial assistance for education of children of labour card holders staying at relief campsheld at Durbar Hall, Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Imphal today. The function was organised by the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board under the Department of Skills, Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Government of Manipur.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that we should not indulge in petty politics rather we should work with consorted efforts during this crucial period. One should join politics to do something for the betterment of the land and its people. A politician should have the courage to stand firmly for the cause of the State and its people, he added.

TheChief Minister said, a total of Rs 2,89,10,000 was disbursed to around 5225 persons through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) today. A sum of Rs. 5000 has been provided as one time to every family having valid labour card and staying in the relief camps (IDPs).

He praised the Minister and officials of the Department for taking such initiatives towards providing assistance to the inmates residing in relief camps with transparency and accountability. The Chief Minister mentioned that the BJP-led government had launched various citizen centric schemes for the welfare of the people. He further stated that Chief Minister-giHakshelgiTengbang (CMHT) was launched on 21st January, 2018 by the government after considering the hardships faced by the poor and needy people on medical treatment. Similarly, Chief Minister Sotharabasin-giTengbangwas launched for the welfare and development of the differently-able personsof the state. Under School Fagathansi mission, children of the labour card holders residing in relief camps are being provided free education in government schools.

Shri N. Biren Singh said, under Chief Minister gi ArtistessingiTengbang (CMAT) scheme, monthly pension is being provided to around 900 artistes. Thousands of families have been benefited under ‘One Family One Livelihood Scheme’, he added. He further stated that around 500 youthsshall be provided skills training at Delhi for cabin crew placements. The funding for the training will be borne by the Ministry of Tourism and the priority will be given to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He said, around 17 Start Ups have already employedaround 432 IDPs.

The Chief Minister said that the government has been extending all possible assistance in shifting people affected by the conflict to safer places. In Phubala area, prefabricated houses have been constructed by the government. And people have been moved to the houses located at a safer place. Around 2500 prefabricated houses have been occupied.

Basantakumar Singh,MLAs, Chairperson, Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board Shri K. Saratkumar Singh, Deputy Labour Commissioner Smt. Tanushree Naorem, officials of the department and inmates of relief camps among others.
