Imphal, 16th February, 2023(DIPR): A Press Conference regarding preparation of upcoming G20 Submit was held today at the ConferenceHall of Old Secretariat, Imphal.
Education, Law & Legislative Affairs MinisterShri Basantakumar Singh, who chaired the press conference, said that Manipuris hosting the first of the four B20 sessions scheduled inthe North East, whichis the official G20 dialogue forum for the global business community.
He also said that the B20 conference scheduled on 17 February 2023 willbe graced by the Chief Ministerof ManipurShri N.Biren Singh,Shri Som Prakash, Minister of State, Commerce & Industries, Government of India and Dr R K Ranjan Singh, Minister of State, ExternalAffairs, Government of India in the presence of senior state and central government officials.
He further said that the B20 conference at Imphalwill witness the convergence of a host ofoverseas delegates from 23 nations representing Australia, Argentina, Bangladesh,Bhutan, Chad, Canada, China, France, Greece, Iceland, Japan, Nepal, Russia, Seychelles, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Tunisia,Uganda, United States and UnitedKingdom.These nations are the most powerful group ofnations which produce about 85 % of world’s GDP. Besidesthe delegates from these countries, visiting dignitaries includes 26 overseas businessdelegates and 24 diplomatsincluding Ambassadors from these countries and India. Incoming Trade and Business delegations and representatives from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Japan, Australia willparticipate at the programme.
As part of the programme, the Chief Ministeris facilitating Businessto Business and Business toGovernment meetings. Visiting overseas business delegates would get the opportunityto interact with the localindustries during the B2B and with the Government in the B2G session for potential investment, collaboration and tie-ups. Over 100 B2B and B2Gqueries have been generated including request for interaction with governmentdepartments - Health and Family Welfare, Skill Development, Sports,Urban Development, Textiles, Finance & Taxation, Tourism, Industries & Commerce, IT,Agriculture and Fisheries, he added.
The minister stated that taking advantageof the presenceof a large contingent of internationaldelegates, the Government ofManipur is making elaboratearrangements not only to showcase investment and partnershipopportunities in the state but also provide aunique experience for the visiting delegates with anexposure to Manipur's culture, cuisine, art, festivities, and scenic beauty.
Meanwhile, Commissioner Tourism Shri Pradeep Kumar Jha also said that the security detailed for the delegates are all women police personnel to showcase women empowerment. He also mentioned that all delegates will visit the renowned Ima Market. He further made an appeal to the people of Manipur to cooperate and give their best efforts to make this historic event successful.
Representatives of Confederate of Indian Industries (CII), Director (IPR) and officials from Press Information Bureau (PIB) also participated at the press conference.
